The associated database to the function "Search for a work" doesn't contain all the works registered at Sacem by some of the thousand members who are authors, composers or publishers.

Many works are not in this database. But before their exploitation (performance / mechanical replication), one has to ask a prior permission and has to pay royalties to the Sacem society or/and the Sdrm society. The following works are concerned :

• some works whose interested parties (authors, composers, publishers, heirs, etc...) are members of foreign society which have signed a reciprocal agreements with the Sacem society or/and the Sdrm society,
• some works that have not been registered yet but of whose interested parties, one or several, are Sacem members,
• some works that have been specifically created for TV and radio or advertising and of whose interested parties, one or several, are Sacem members.

Under these conditions, the fact that a work or one of its interested parties is not found in this database doesn't mean that one doesn't have to ask for prior permission or doesn't have to pay royalties to the Sacem society or to the Sdrm society.

The exploitation of a protected work in disregard of the rights of its authors or its interested parties is forbidden by the law (article L 335-2 and the following of the intellectual property code). Therefore, before any performance or/and any mechanical replication, anyone must comply with all the legal obligations towards the Sacem society or/and the Sdrm society.
