Biography      

Born on December 16, 1946, in Bourg-de-Péage (Drôme, France)

Bernard Miyet graduated from the Institut d'Études politiques (Grenoble) and the French national school of public administration (ENA, “Guernica” class), then joined the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, starting his career with the division for the United Nations and international organizations.

He was appointed to the political affairs division, working there from 1976 to 1979 when he became First Secretary for the French permanent mission to the United Nations in Geneva.

In 1981, he was appointed chief of staff to the minister of communication, Georges Fillioud.

In 1983 he became chairman and CEO of Sofirad. Next he was appointed special adviser to the Chairman of Schlumberger Ltd., Jean Riboud, managing the start up of “la Cinq” television station.

From 1986 to 1989, he was French Consul General in Los Angeles, then became Deputy Director General for cultural, scientific and technical relations, in charge of communication with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (1989-1991). At the same time he was organizer of the European Audiovisual Conference held in Paris in September 1989. He was chosen as the first chairman of the European coordinators committee “Audiovisual Eureka”, after organizing the launch of the project.

Appointed ambassador, he was France’s permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva (1991-1993), and then roving ambassador covering the “cultural exception” in the GATT negotiations.

From 1994 to early 1997, again as ambassador, he was France’s permanent representative to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, based in Vienna. In 1997, he took over from Kofi Anan in the position of Under-Secretary General of the United Nations Organization, in charge of the department of peacekeeping operations.

On October 5, 2000, he was appointed Deputy Chief Executive of the SACEM Management Board, remaining there until February 1, 2001, when the SACEM Board of Directors appointed him Chief Executive Officer of the Management Board, the position he currently holds.
On January 24, 2004, Bernard Miyet was elected vice-president of the French Coalition for Cultural Diversity.
On April 21, 2005, Bernard Miyet was elected president of GESAC (European grouping of societies of authors and composers).

Professional Experience

Michel Allain began his career in 1986, working with the catering group SODEXHO, where he held positions as organizer, project/research manager and information system manager for the “Chèque Restaurant” program.
In 1997 he joined the DAIMLER group, taking up the position of Director of Information Systems for DAIMLER-CHRYSLER SERVICES.

He joined SACEM in 2002 as Director in charge of Organization and Information Systems.
Since 2006, he has been the SACEM representative on the Board of Directors of DDEX (Digital Data Exchange) which appointed him Treasurer in 2007.
