"Grands Prix" Awards 2009
Discover the "Grand Prix" winners
The awards ceremony took place on Monday 14 December 2009 at the Théâtre du Rond-Point in Paris.
Although sometimes it's a pleasure to prove the opposite! Spending an entire lifetime writing, composing or publishing is obviously fabulous, but the price is often paid in incertitude and stress. And then one evening, the lights go up in the theatre and amidst sincere applause you receive your true reward: recognition by those who are familiar with doubt, who come up to you to express their confidence in you, in your talent, your work, your career.
Sacem's "Grand Prix" awards are a joint "thank you" from creators and the public to the great artisans of music. Award winners enter into a Pantheon peopled with impressive talents such as Messiaen and Bashung, Devos and Delerue, Souchon and Dutilleux, plus this year David Guetta and Allain Leprest, Anne Roumanoff and Mantovani, Manu, Jacques, Lionel and their 2009 alumni. Their common denominator is belonging to the same society, Sacem, a family of adventurers of the blank page, an ant - to use a metaphor from La Fontaine - at the service of cicadas. Sacem, the defender of the sowers of dreams.
I am very happy to be here this evening, in this fine Théâtre du Rond-Point, hosted by Jean-Michel Ribes. Tonight, we are celebrating the eclecticism of our members: a kaleidoscope of texts, a rainbow of sounds. This evening, Sacem's Board of Directors, its Management Board, and all its staff, are proud to present to you the 2009 award winners.
At a time when we are all fighting for the survival of music, when we are continuing to proclaim loud and clear that works do have value, it is right for their creators to receive awards.
