The licence fee due per copy manufactured is calculated by applying the following rate:

  • 13.2% of the wholesale price (excluding VAT) or when that price is unknown,
  • 9.6% of the retail sales price (excluding VAT).

The percentage has a minimum amount of €0.0717 per work (excluding VAT) for VHS recordings and €0.1555 per work (excluding VAT) for DVDs. This minimum fee is increased on a proportional scale when more than 15 works are reproduced on VHS tapes, or when more than 26 works are reproduced on DVDs.

The licence fee due per copy manufactured, for performance rights for the music only, is calculated by applying the following rate:

  • 11% of the wholesale price (excluding VAT) or when that price is unknown,
  • 8% of the retail price (excluding VAT).

The percentage has a minimum amount of €0.0595 per work (excluding VAT) for VHS tapes and €0.1296 per work (excluding VAT) for DVDs. This minimum fee is increased on a proportional scale when more than 15 works are reproduced on VHS tapes, or when more than 26 works are reproduced on DVDs.

The conditions and scope of authorization licences issued by SDRM are detailed in the General Provisions of the Licence Application forms.

Please note that the authorization to reproduce the musical performances and the lyrics of works in a karaoke video recording is only granted once the rights due for the number of copies manufactured have been paid, and with all due respect for the numbers declared and the use stated on the licence application.
