SACEM (music creators and publishers) and WAT.tv (Videos, Buzz et vous) are proud to announce an agreement at Midem 2010
This contract bears on the different types of content present on the site www.wat.tv, the 3rd video broadcaster on the Internet in France (content from professional and creative partners, and UGC – user generated content), thereby promoting musical creation and diffusion in the new media.
This agreement applies to WAT.tv’s activity since the launch date.
Bernard Miyet, CEO & Chairman of the SACEM Management Board, declares: “This agreement symbolises our will to facilitate the diffusion of Web 2.0 music to offer passionate web users a genuine exchange forum and a freedom of access to works, while fully respecting the rights of musical authors, composers and publishers.”
Olivier Abecassis, Managing Director of WAT.tv: “By signing this agreement with SACEM on this symbolic date of the opening of MIDEM 2010, WAT is confirming its approach and that of the TF1 Group, to enhance content within an efficient innovative legal online video offering aiming to create an ecosystem adapted to brands and respectful of the creative value chain, from the author to the broadcaster. This signature ushers in a year 2010 rich in partnerships and changes for WAT.tv, with the ambition of developing the value of video in the new media in association with rights holders. I am completely satisfied with this agreement.”
Sacem is a non-profit membership organization for managing rights and royalties of authors, composers and publishers of musical works. Its primary mission is to collect royalties and to redistribute these equitably to rights holders. Founded over 150 years ago, Sacem was the first society in the world to represent musical rights holders. It is a private non profit organization. Sacem counts today over 130,000 members worldwide (including 15 500 foreign members). It manages 38 million works.
