Role

SACEM is a professional body representing authors ; it is an independent non-trading company [société civile] directed by composers, authors and publishers.

The Board is in charge of the society, working, contracting, defending and settling matters for the society, and generally deciding on all administrative matters.
Every year it elects its Bureau, the chair of the Bureau also being the chair of the SACEM Board of Directors.
It appoints the members of the Management Board who manage the society.

The Board of Directors is comprised of :

• 6 authors
• 6 composers
• 6 publishers
• 1 author-film director

The AGM rules on the annual financial statements, the annual report on the society presented by the manager, and on all questions submitted by the Board of Directors.
The AGM elects the members to the Board of Directors, the members of the two Statutory Committees and of the Committee established under the terms of Article R-321-6-3 of the French Intellectual Property Code.

On June 14, 2009, the AGM cast votes and elected the new members of the Board of Directors for the period 2009-2010; the term of office is three years (with one-third of the Board replaced each year).
