SACEM was pleased with the remarkable level of advertising income for France Télévisions and calls on the audiovisual group to reinforce investments in musical creation
It is also to be hoped that the positive consequences that should ensue for the remuneration of creation will not be called into question by a correlative reduction in the other resources the State promised France Télévisions. Indeed, musical authors, composers and publishers are already suffering from the massive downturn in phonographic revenue and the degradation in advertising revenue for private radio and television.
Bernard Miyet, CEO and Chairman of the SACEM Management Board, underscores that “It is essential for the public authorities to respect the commitments made to France Télévisions, as well as those made for the remuneration due to authors for 2008, which remain outstanding today.”
Furthermore, SACEM welcomes France Télévisions’s decision to reinforce their investments in favour of cinema for the next three years, while emphasizing that a comparable effort in favour of musical creation and diversity would be an opportune signal for the creators concerned.
