SACEM and Dailymotion are proud to announce an agreement fostering the broadcast of works on Web 2.0
In accordance with this agreement, Dailymotion will pay to SACEM a percentage of advertising revenues for the works the latter represents: musical works, musical documentaries and clips, dubbing and sub-titles, humour and also poems and sketches.
The agreement applies to the various types of video featured on the Web 2.0 platform , ie Official Content, Creative Content as well as User Generated Content.
The agreement is retroactive, taking effect from the date the service was launched. It will run until end 2010.
Bernard Miyet, CEO & Chairman of the Management Board of SACEM, explains: "This is the first agreement with a file sharing website. It symbolises our determination to remain involved in the development of new vectors for broadcasting music on Web 2.0 within a framework that respects authors’, composers’ and music publishers’ rights."
Mark Zaleski, CEO of Dailymotion, adds: “This agreement proves to anyone who may still have doubts, that authors’ rights are perfectly compatible with new ways of using works on Internet - as long as the new players elect clearly to position themselves as the natural allies of authors, as Dailymotion has.”
For the record:
SACEM’s vocation is to represent music authors, composers and publishers by protecting musical creation.
