On the eve of the solemn vote in the French National Assembly, creators, publishers and producers wish to reiterate their full support for the draft law on criminal protection of literary and artistic property on the Internet (“Hadopi 2”), defended by the Minister of Culture and Communication Frédéric Mitterrand.

All the players in the music business have been mobilized with determination for months in favour of this system for regulating exchanges on the Internet, since it should put an end to years of laissez-faire resulting in a sharp erosion of their income.

At the end of a long process of reflection and consultation, this law reasserts the need to respect creators’ right to earn a living from their works and for cultural industries to live from their trade.

To the extent that every passing month only confirms the worsening of the economic situation in their industry, music professionals consider it is essential for this law to come into effect as soon as possible.
