Jean-Max Rivière has been a member of SACEM as an author since 1958, and bacame a "sociétaire définitif" in 1969.

He has been a member of SNAC since 1968, of SACD since 1974 and is a memeber of the "Comité du coeur" solidarity commitee.

He won the André Didier Mauprey award in 2005.
