2009 Spring Awards

2009 Spring Awards

Today we are going to have the pleasure of announcing our Spring Awards 2009, awarded by Sacem's Board of Directors to some of our most deserving colleagues.

The Spring Awards stem from the legacies, donations and determination of some of our great elders to honour the most diverse musical genres. Contemporary music is strongly represented among extremely varied forms of musical expression. I would like to thank Sacem's Symphony Music Commission for its priceless help with drawing up the list of winners.

This ceremony also offers an opportunity for us to get to know each other better and to demonstrate our support for, and admiration of, artists representing the lifeblood of music.

I hope that my successor will be able to close his editorial for the 2010 Spring Awards without expressing concern about repeated attacks against authors' rights. But for this year, we can only stress that we must all remain more vigilant and united, and more active than ever within our Sacem, to defend the cause of creators and their publishers.

This must not stop us, however, from celebrating in true style, and in our beautiful auditorium, the talented winners of the Spring Awards 2009.
